Heart surgery

Donation protected
I was born with a genetic heart disease called Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. It causes my right ventricular to weaken and thin the walls, as well as develop scar tissue that causes life threatening arrhythmias. I am going to have to undergo electrophysiology surgery to try and cauterize the scar tissue to reduce the chance of arrhythmias. I am also getting an implantable cardio defibrillator to shock my heart so it doesn't beat at a deadly pace. I am a surfer by nature and the doctors have advised me to stop all physically demanding sports to decrease my risk of dying. I can't stop surfing though, so in order for my family and friends not to worry about me when I surf I need to get these procedures done. Before I learned about my condition I was attending the University of Hawaii majoring in marine sciences. Due to the time I must spend back in California going to Stanford University as my primary place of care, I had to take time off of school and move back to California during the duration of my medical issues. I would love to be able to return to school and continue my studies but financially the cost of the surgeries and treatment could put me way behind and not allow me to go back to school anytime soon. If I can reach my goal I will be able to pay for my surgeries and be able to return to school and my normal way of living to continue my dreams.
