Mid-Placer LL Recovery Fundraiser

Mid-Placer Little League (MPLL) urgently needs your help. Based in Newcastle, CA, MPLL is a thriving youth baseball league dedicated to building young people of character and courage while teaching them to love the game of baseball. We call historic Chantry Field, established in 1901 and the oldest community owned youth ballpark west of the Mississippi, home and take pride in representing Newcastle against the best teams in the Sierra foothills region. On July 1, 2017, MPLL Board members were notified of potential criminal activity that may have resulted in the loss of thousands of dollars from the league's various accounts. In the days that followed, preliminary research revealed that funds were indeed missing and that our accounts had been all but drained. The board immediately took action to remove the standing Treasurer and appoint a replacement, as well as restricting all accounts to deposit-only status, appointing an independent auditor and reporting the suspected illegal activity to the Placer County Sheriff's office. A suspect has been arrested and charged with multiple financial and identity crimes. This act of selfishness and deceit has put MPLL in a precarious financial situation. Funds are needed urgently to help to pay ongoing operating expenses for the historic field, such as water and field maintenance. In addition, recent expenses for All-star uniforms remain unpaid due to missing funds. Unfortunately, we are now left with empty accounts and a community saddened, but ready to recover. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and may be tax deductible as MPLL is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit (E94-2813896). We will gladly send tax receipts at the end of the fundraiser.
