My name is Sylvia. I am the baby of Madelien who is the greatest woman alive and this is why.
My mommy has seen a lot of hardship in her life. She suffered from many ailments, accidents and illnesses. She had many surgeries and many health travesties but she ALWAYS came back stronger. She is tough and always faced every challenge head on.
My mommy believed in education and knowledge. She embedded that rich desire in all of her children early on. At the age of 76, she still wanted to return to school and become a travel agent. Nothing could stop her. She valued her family and her friends. She was a devout Christian who led the Seniors’ Ministry in her church for many years. Providing them with language education, gatherings, parties and trips across the world.
On March 2nd, 2016, my mommy planned an amazing cruise for her senior's ministry. She took off with my daddy and 34 other people on what to become the most eventful cruise of her life. Five days after starting the cruise to the West Caribbean islands, she contracted a virus aboard the ship and was admitted into a hospital in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Her medical complications include COPD, Hypertension, Diabetes as well as an assortment of other existing ailments. The infection turned into Pneumonia and now she is attached to machines that help her eat, breathe and continue to live. Doctors are trying to help her recover and we are hoping she will. My 80 year old father is by her side, devastated and terrified at the thought of losing the only love of his life and his wife of 55 years.
Her three children including me left their families (I have a 4 months old at home) and came to be by her bedside. We don't know what will happen and if this time, the condition will beat her. She is fighting hard to survive for us and her 10 grandchildren.
The bills for her care and the emergency ambulance will cost us thousands of dollars. We want to help my father who is not wealthy in money but wealthy in love cover the medical bills. The money you donate will go towards her medical bills in the hospital as well as my father's medical bills because he will be requiring assistance as well.
Having people help us with raising money for them right away will not only lift a load off my father but give my mother new hope to live. All the insurance companies are rejecting to help us because of her medical background and her age and now we don't know who can help us.
It would mean everything to me as her baby and to my family if you can be so generous to help out with any amount of money. Our gratitude for your kindness would be manifested through our continuation to serve others in Church and the world through deeds and volunteerism. We will also use part of this money to support her senior ministry in Church which she so loved.
My mommy is a special kind of person. She would take new immigrants to Service Canada offices to help translate and get them started on their new life in Canada. She would donate her time and energy to people as if they were her own children. We are getting phone calls from around the world from those very people she helped and loved.
There are no words to describe how scared I am to lose my mommy and not be able to utter that word for much longer. It is the hardest thing in the world to witness my father, my hero, cry himself to sleep. We are praying that God sends us His mercy and His love. If you can’t help with money then please just send us your prayers.
