SIDS Stock Car(Sudden Infant Death Synd)

A friend of ours has lost two infants to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Her daughter has been fund raising to earn money for SIDS research. She made $3,000 with lemonade stands this past summer. I need to do my part to raise money for SIDS research and local grief counseling.

I want to purchase or build a "Thunder Stock" dirt track race car to use for fund raising for SIDS and to raise awareness in our community and surrounding communities. SIDS is the leading cause of death in infants 0-12 months. There are over 4000 SIDS deaths per year in the United States. There are all sorts of "Cancer" cars that race but no SIDS cars. When you have cancer, you have two outcomes, you either live or you die. With SIDS, there is only death. Parents put their perfectly healthy baby in his/her crib and they never wake up.

I set my goal at $5,000. The funds I raise will go toward the purchase of a stock car or the building of a car, trailer, and safety equipment. All remaining funds will be contributed to www.firstcandle.org. First Candle is a leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to safe pregnancies and the survival of babies through the first years of life. Current priorities are to eliminate Stillbirth, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID) with programs of research, education and advocacy. They also provide compassionate grief support to all those affected by the death of a baby through a dedicated crisis hotline at [phone redacted]. I have been approached by multiple people to put on a SIDS Awareness Walk. Pepsi has already committed to supplying water, sports drinks, and signage for the event. I plan on holding this event in the Spring of 2014. So far the walk will be called the Pepsi SIDS Awareness Walk. Should other sponsors sign on, their name or names would be added. I prefer to keep the sponsors at a minimum, maybe five or so as not to detract from the cause. Decals are in the works to be purchased for a donation and placed on the car in memory of a loved one or in a person or families name.

I cannot offer you much more than good publicity and good advertisement for a good cause as well as your name as a sponsor on the car. I will give you an 8"X10" color photo of the car and if races are won, the trophies will be given to my sponsors. All monies earned by this cause will go to First Candle.

While I have never lost a child to this tragic end, my heart goes out to the families who have, and I want to do something to prevent it from happening again. Please help me reach my goal and, in turn, help raise awareness of SIDS. I need your help in raising funds for this project, for SIDS research, grief counseling, and awareness.
