In a nut shell, we think he has IVDD which is intravertebral disc disease. It's basically a Herniated disc in his back. It is caused usually by genetics and a deterioration of the disc causing impingement of the spinal cord.
As a result this is causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down, including bladder and bowel function. And he is hypertonic in his upper limbs. He is in no pain thankfully, but very scared and confused. The disease can spread quickly if the inflammation increases causing him to lose function of his vital organs, stop breathing and die. Or the spinal cord can doe causin permanent paralyzation.
I went for a second opinion and I am attempting acupuncture at the holistic veterinary clinic on 16th Ave. He had his first treatment yesterday afternoon and has to go back three times a week for the next three weeks. He is also on medications to reduce any pain that may be occurring and to reduce inflammation. I'm hoping he will regain some sort of mobility or sensation within the next couple of treatments. I cannot afford the surgery, and the surgery is time sensitive so if this doesn't work for him I'm not sure what I will have to do.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me with the kind words and messages. I'm sorry if I have not been on able to get back to everyone. This has been a very timely, emotional, and exhausting past 24 hours. But I do appreciate it and I wanted you all to know.
Many of my friends have mentioned starting a go fund me account, which I had never heard of before. My cousin, Kendell Woo, The angel that she is, has told me she is going to start one for me today. I imagine that this is a donation fund, so I am very grateful that she is doing this for me and any contribution will help with the treatment of Clutch, but is not expected.
It is a beautiful thought to know so many people care about me and my son Clutch. Thank you everyone.
I will keep you posted via Facebook❤️
