Save "Bandit" the Injured Kitty

1000On Tuesday, August 27, I was lost and trying to find my way to meet a friend at a bagel shop after completing a purchase on a new bicycle. As I was approaching the somewhat empty intersection at I-35 and Parmer Lane, something caught my eye.
A cat was limping, bleeding, and meowing in the intersection. Someone had just hit it, and driven off. Cars surrounded the intersection, and nobody got out to help.
As more speeding cars roared towards the light, I immediately got out of my car, throwing my hands out to stop the cars from continuing, and grabbed the cat. With no blankets, towels, or anything to safely hold him, I put him in the backseat and googled the nearest Vet Hospital.
He sat in my car, quietly, bleeding. If you know me, then you know I was in shock - shaking and near tears - trying to calm this cat down.
Once at the Vet, I waited to hear his condition. So far, this is what we know:
- His jaw is broken and will need surgery.
- He most likely is suffering from Neurological problems and trauma.
- He may have a broken leg.
- He has a microchip and a flea collar.
He is on pain meds and an IV drip and the technicians have attempted to contact his owners. So far, they have had no luck.
I paid a portion of his vet bill this morning, but it will be very expensive. Since his owners have not been responsive, he will most likely be euthanized if nobody claims him.
I'm asking for donations for his medical bills. Whatever you can contribute, please do so. He was obviously lost, and is a very sweet cat. For now, I've named him "Bandit" after a cat I knew when I once worked at a vet clinic who had the same thing happen to him.
He didn't deserve to get hit, and he definitely doesn't deserve to be euthanized because of financial issues or lack of ownership responsibility.
