Story:

“Souvenirs” is a drama/comedy that focuses on the relationship between Dave, and his grandfather, Seymore, whose mind is deteriorating. Dave must race against time in order to help his grandfather recall important memories from his past.

Our film has two primary themes that we think are salient in society today: the importance of mental health and the potential dangers technology can pose. We hope to highlight both of these issues through the grandfather/grandson relationship.

“Souvenirs” is our senior thesis and will showcase everything we’ve learned about filmmaking in over the past few years in film school. Based at Chapman University’s Dodge College, our creative team hopes to produce a visual striking and emotionally touching film that will help launch our careers after college.

Movie making is expensive. We’ll have a crew of 57 people once we start filming on November 30th, which is a lot of mouths to feed! It’s a 6-day shoot, which means we’ll also be paying for 6 days of equipment rentals, camera rentals, a truck for all our gear, insurance, actor rates, gas compensations, location agreements, and a whole lot more. The school has given a generous contribution but we’re still $4000 short of our goal, which is why we’re reaching out through GoFundMe.

Our script has been accepted by the student Oscars for consideration, and we’re hoping to enter other festivals as well, which is also an expensive endeavour.

Any contribution will take us a long way in creating this short film and we believe that we can truly make an impact on people’s live with this film. Every donation, in any amount, will allow us to put our talents on display for our senior thesis.
