We are a small preschool on 41st Ave.
We help many families, including new immigrant families settling into Vancouver, offering English support along with our own special curriculum that helps children learn about being community-minded citizens of Earth.
On June 22, a terrible fire ripped through our block. Many business were destroyed and our preschool suffered smoke damage.
In order to keep our space safe and healthy for our families and to comply with Vancouver public health regulations, we just had to close down to allow a restoration company take all our contents for cleaning and clean our entire space.
Sadly, we were shocked to learn that insurance cannot cover the taxes for this service, which can be thousands dollars. Our teachers need to continue receiving their small wage, as they have families, too. And then, there's the deductible....
Needless to say, we feel very lucky to still have a school, but if we go bankrupt, we will be stranding many families and children with no care or safe learning spaces.
We are reaching out to our community for support.
All money over our personal target of $10,000 will be donated to any businesses in our community who did not have insurance to cover their family businesses.
