Battling Multiple Sclerosis

As many of you know, times are tough as Shelby's medical condition racks up an outstanding bill. Due to not being able to work, a delayed back pay on 60% income, many doctors visits to come and many upcoming next steps on our plate, we are faced with financial hardships.

It started at the end of September when she experienced her first OF MANY hallucinations due to vision loss. Her vison loss can be explained as blotchy, only seeing the left side of everything & having a central vision blank spot. These side effects lead Shelby to see her eye doctor where multiple eye tests were taken. These tests prove her loss of vision on her right side. After taking multiple tests a few times, eye doctors were still baffled. It was assumed that this could be neurologically related. Once referred to an Neuro-Ophthalmologist, an appointment was made right away. A few days before Shelby could even make it to the appointment, she woke up with worsened vision. The severity of the vision loss overnight scared Shelby & we took her to the ER ASAP. The ER then performed a CT scan which came back perfect.

Days later, with the Neuro-Ophthalmologist,  those same eye test were taken & then some. The same eye tests proved that  mom's vision had gotten worse. It left the doctor baffled as to how she was losing her vision so quickly in a span of 6 days. He ordered an MRI of the brain. All of Shelby's side effects remained the same. Those side effects include hallucinations, unbalanced equilibrium, bruises form running into things, anxiety, slurring of the words, right side immobility/ weakness and the feeling of becoming slower.

Fast forward to the MRI.. Once she was finished with the MRI,  we had a neuro-ophthalmologist  visit directly after. The doctor told us that mom's eyes were healthy, as the eye doctor said. We were told that if nothing significant is shown on MRI, we wouldn't hear from him until 2 week follow up. Well, we received a phone call the next day. We were asked to come in office the following Monday to read the MRI report and its findings. Shelby was told that there were multiple lesions on all parts of her brain but most importantly, a super big and active one on the left side of her brain. These were all signs for the radiologist and neuro-ophthalmologist to assume Multiple Sclerosis. This lesion would be the reason for all of Shelby's right side to slow down / not work. We were then recommended to see a neurologist for diagnosis. Thankfully, we were able to make an appointment ASAP and get in super fast. When we saw her, Shelby was told she thinks it's multiple sclerosis. The neurologist added on & said if it was up to her, she would send mom straight to the ER for 3-5 days worth of steroids  as taking it orally would only burn her stomach. So, we did as recommended and received 3 days worth of steroids at the hospital.

This is where we are now.. Shelby is home & takes steroids, daily, to suppress the side effects of her multiple sclerosis. She has a hospital follow up appointment with a primary doctor and an appointment to see her neurologist. These next few visits will determine how Shelby will go on with this life long disease & get a spinal tap to rule out any other diseases.

However, the medical bills are piling up FAST and so are monthly bills. In a time of need, I, Faith, am asking for any help possible! If it hasn't been for our friends and family, we wouldn't have gotten this far with uplifting spirits. My mom is taking on UNNEEDED stress, financially and just in general. This GoFundMe will help relieve these stresses and help her look forward to the brighter side of Multiple Sclerosis. It's with your help that she will be able to seek the treatment she needs to fight MS! We love you!!! Xoxo!!!
