Help Mya Walk Again.

Please help us get Mya back on her feet and playing. Mya is my mother's little 3 lb Yorkie who has hip and knee issues in both of her back legs, and my mom has already had a rough year. Along with the passing of her first grandchild, my mom was just diagnosed with a rare neurological disease, after suffering with this illness for many years, called Neuro Myelitis Optica, which causes blindness, paralysis, and death; she counts on Mya to keep her going.
Mya started having trouble going up and down her steps to get to my mom's lap. Our local vet gave us a referral to the University of MN Veterinary Medical Center where Mya was diagnosed with both Legg Calve Perthes Disease and Medial Patella Luxation.
Legg Calve Perthes Disease is a form of severe arthritis that causes a degeneration of the ball on Mya's hip joint and for bone spurs to develop there, giving her severe pain and discomfort, while Medial Patella Luxation is a misplacement of the ligaments on her kneecaps which cause them to move to the sides.
Combined, these diseases are very painful for Mya and her back legs are atrophying because it is hard for her to use them. They have progressed to a point where Mya is now in pain constantly and finding it difficult to walk, run, play, or use stairs. Without the surgery she will only keep getting worse. Most days now she spends in my mom's arms, laying on the floor, or on the couch, without any of the running and playing both of them are used to doing.
Mya will have to undergo two surgeries, one to fix each leg. The surgery for her hips will involve removing the femoral head, while the knee surgery will require her knees to be moved back into place along with one knee cap's groove being enlarged to hold it in place with, finally, the ligaments being moved to keep her kneecaps securely where they need to be.
These surgeries would help to decrease the arthritis pain in her hip joints and stabilize her knee joints, both of which contribute to significant discomfort for her, but we simply cannot afford them without aid.
My mom has had a rough time of it and I can't bear for her to lose one more thing in her life. She has been ill for the last several years to a point she has had to give up her job, most of the activities she used to do, due to trouble with her balance, losing a significant amount of feeling, and this has left her extremely depressed. She now spends most of her days at home with only her dogs to keep her company, and she has told me on many occasions that Mya is one of the only things that makes her smile and keeps her going.
Mya's expenses will cost approximately $6800.00. My mom has often said that Mya is her sunshine and the only thing that has kept her sane through this last year. Actually everyone that has met Mya seems to be a little happier for the experience and we would just like to give something back to this little dog that means so much to our entire family, not just my mom.
