GROW WITH JUST SEW SIMPLE

Donation protected
I own a retail and craft workshop called Just Sew Simple based in Livingston. I provide a retail space selling yarn and fabric and I offer many tutored classes and workshops employing local artists to teach people various skills such as sewing, crochet and knitting and quilting, many of which are recognised as good micro business skills which also happen to be good for your  mental health.

The business started the year before the first lockdown and I maintained a click and collect service while going to work full time for the NHS. I have reinvested all profits into the business and breaking current trends have been thriving for 3 years, so much so outgrowing my current premises.

I support local charities and groups including a mental health charity, initially providing them with new sewing machines, materials and haberdashery then teaching them new skills and training up service users to run classes self sufficiently.

I provide an open door service to anyone who needs a breathing space, a chat over a cup of coffee, or supportive contact and messages where appropriate without need to purchase..

I provide a more holistic approach to business and care about the local community, supporting other small start ups and employing and up skilling local people to become class tutors.

As mentioned I have outgrown my current business premises and have just agreed terms to triple the size of our accommodation. To pay for it and keep the business profitable I am looking to secure funding to buy a fully automated quilting machine. I have seen a second hand one for £16,000 but I need help to buy it. I will fund all other aspects of the growth myself unless donations exceed that target and I would then look at building a bespoke workshop space. In return for donations I will offer goods and services in exchange for donations so potentially a win win all round.

I am a local business with strong links to the local community. Growth would allow me to employ or give employment opportunities to many people, especially small start ups. I hope in time to offer retail cabinets to local small startups and creatives to give them an outlet to sell their wares.

Until this point I am self funded and have grown a business from an empty unit. I no outstanding debts or borrowing in my business and own my stock and machines outright.
