Mark McKeon, Jr., Funeral Fund

Mark McKeon, Jr., a Navy veteran, a son, step-son, grandson, great grandson, and a friend. He was full of life, joy and happiness. He was happy to come home to Florida to be near his Dad, Mac McKeon. He made new friends, started a job and was glad to be home. He loved to crack jokes every chance he got. He started having trouble with his emotions once he came home from the Navy. His dad and I noticed he was having emotionally challenging times, and we would try to talk to him about what happened and attempted to get him to talk with someone. He finally agreed to get help he had checked himself into the Veterans Administration Hospital for depression, anxiety and PTSD, what the doctors said was the worst case they had seen in years. Both times, he was checked out on meds, but still wasn't right. Last Monday 06/26/17 was the second time he checked out and last Monday was the last time we spoke with him. He went missing after no one had heard from him, no returned texts and no returned phone calls. There was a search party on Friday 06/30/17 that stretched into the Ocala National Forest because he would go ride the trails when he was feeling bad. So many people who new him and didn't know him reached out for the search, and had over 500 shares of his missing post on Facebook. It was unbelievable to us, that so many people would go out of their way to help find someone they didn't even know. Then we got the dreadful phone call that ended it all, Friday 06/30/17 at 1:10 pm. He had been found, and it's not good. He had committed suicide by hanging himself in the woods near where he grew up. PTSD is a very, very, VERY dangerous disorder. We are asking for help to pay not only for his funeral expenses, but would also like to use the remaining monies to raise the awareness to the 22 A Day Crisis our veterans are facing.
