June 10, 2017 while sitting on the the couch I started experiencing lower abdominal pain. Half an hour later Derek & I went to the local grocery store. Walking down the steps into our garage, my pain increased substantially. By the time we had drove across town, and arrived at the grocery store, I literally didn't feel like getting out of the car, so Derek ran in and got a few groceries, then we came straight home and I laid down immediately. Soon the pain was so awful I began vomiting. Still unsure of what was happening to me, we decided to go to Emergency at Three Hills. There I continued to be sick to my stomach from the phenomenal levels of pain. The Doctor decided I would be going on to Red Deer via ambulance as soon as possible. Upon arriving at Red Deer I was whisked immediately in for a CT Scan. They had a surgeon on hand assigned for me, if needed. After what seemed like forever, we found out my colon was perforated, there seemed to be a tumour, and a spot on my liver ~ the Doctor apologized for having to deliver so much information for us to take in, and that they'd be opening me up not knowing what they'd find. He said they'd take care of life threatening issues first and cross one bridge at a time. The surgery that night took 9" of my colon and left me with a colostomy bag for a few months, and plans to reattach it when I'm mended. Further testing has shown there's a golf ball sized spot on my liver. After my results came back we are now dealing with the word cancer. Chemo and more surgeries are on the horizon. Life changes in the blink of an eye. . . we have had numerous people asking if we have a fund page set up. The future is unknown as of now and I have a lot ahead of me. I need to rest and store up strength for the road I have to travel. Your help would be greatly appreciated as Alberta Health only covers a portion of the costs with my colostomy bag, and anti nausea drugs during chemo are extremely expensive and left for us to cover, and this isn't mentioning my being unable to work. Derek will be continuing to juggle driving truck and also being here for my Doctor appointments and help where he can. May God bless you for caring ♥️
