Being Sued for Defamation After Sexual Assault

"October 10th 2021, I posted my account of sexual assault on the ‘Not In Our Scene’.
I went into humiliating detail of being assaulted January of 2020 and some events thereafter. Action was taken; he was terminated by his employer(s) and his band was booted from their label. However, there have been consequences in speaking. People have asked me why I took a long time to go to the police or speak with a lawyer. People have asked me, “What are the consequences of calling out an abuser?”
In his second statement, he said he wished to “respond with care and empathy to Nina.” Some time after, November 9th 2021, he then filed a defamation claim in high claims court. I am now being sued for 30K+ in large claims court for defamation.
The past two years, I have had medical procedures, changed jobs, and am burdened by debt. I am still paying for therapy, chiropractic treatment, and trying to treat pelvic floor dysfunction. I will likely have to have surgery again. I suffer conditions that strain my finances. My family cannot help me. My family has experienced the trauma of losing my father to cancer as well as paying for his cancer treatments. He passed in 2021 and it has left my mother in burdening financial circumstances. Civil litigation (even for just defending myself) will be expensive and family cannot help me at this time.
If there is trial by jury, I will need 20-25k to cover court fees. With lawsuit, It will cost me well above 30K +. 30k is likely a modest estimated.
I need to defend myself. True healing started with speaking. I don’t like asking for help, but I need to acknowledge that now I really need it. I will donate any remaining money to non-profit organizations. 50% of the remaining donations will go to RAINN and 50% to ACT Blue Texas Abortion Funds. I will share the receipt. I will make the donations right before the statute of limitations (for both parties) is up.
