SAVE DA BURGER SHACK

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Daniel Hernandez. I am the owner of DA Burger Shack in The Shoppes of Sunset Property in Miami, FL. I am a Chef that has been in the industry for over 15 years. I was in NY working as an Executive Chef when I decided to come home and start a Food Truck business, Da Burger Shack. I had my Food Truck for 4 years before committing to B&M. When I first saw the location I am currently placed in, it was a Chinese restaurant going out of business. To my fortune and their misfortune I was excited to have found what I thought was a great location and an existing kitchen. When negotiating rent I didn’t think to bring a contractor to tell me how good or bad the premises were, and I went ahead and signed the lease. After signing the lease every Contractor that I spoke to was charging double what I had anticipated cost would be. My intentions were to remodel some things, not do a full build out because the premises were in such bad shape. Every time they touched something it collapsed, I had to re-wire electric, plumbing, even a new grease trap. All of this consumed my working capital, plus we ran few months behind due to delay in finding contractor, that at the end of it he quoted a lower amount but due to the unforeseen property damage it cost 30% more than quoted. We are now 11 months in the location. Customers like our food, and keep coming back, they keep telling us they are happy to have us in the neighborhood. You may check our reviews on Yelp, Google and Facebook. We have an average of 4.5 which is very good. The location is not growing as fast as it should be to keep up with expenses, and at this point out landlord says to pay up or get out. We appreciate any donation you may be able to give. If we are able to reach our goal we can stay afloat for a few more months with a payment plan to our landlord if we do not you will help us close in a way that we will be able to leave with our equipment and get a warehouse.
