A non-for profit group dedicated in helping Australian soldiers, veterans and families from the Afghanistan war, by building a community to help them in life.
The 42 stands for the 41 soldiers we lost in Afghanistan, with the 42nd being the soldiers we have lost to suicide and for the ones that are still struggling with there demons.
We support and sponsor the Afghanistan veteran community by helping acknowledge,
establish and make aware of events, groups, support programs, job help and financial assistance when required.
Our first and main project, the building of a memorial to remember and honour all the deployments to Afghanistan.
Our vision is the memorial will be built as a storyline from each deployment, incorporating our fallen soldiers, our VC medal winners and all the information regarding each deployment.
Every deployment that was sent to Afghanistan faced different circumstances and had different outcomes. It's important that we don't forget that this was Australia's longest war and a war on terror, which has shaken the world.
The main outcome would be to get Afghanistan Veterans to build the memorial and help ease some scares they may still carry or give them some pride in the active service they gave.
We strongly support and advertise a number of Afghanistan veteran groups. The support is important to help them be recognised within the public and the support they give to Afghanistan veterans.
A large mission and objective for 42 for 42 is to help bring a link to our modern veterans and our families towards the RSL and Legacy. We hope to be able to be a vital contributor and link for Australia's two largest defence organisations and help bring understanding with what can be provided from them both as well as incorporating our brand and fundraising.
Some of the veterans, families and groups may require little more than advice, others need more extensive assistance like pensions advocacy, support for children, providing safety and security, relieving financial hardship, combating social isolation and providing medical and respite care. We hope the 42 for 42 can provide this or for better outcome have the RSL and legacy help build that breach, with our support.
