Blitz Kitty Needs Help

As some of you may know, we found a sick stray kitten at the ballpark last Sunday. He had a terrible bilateral eye infection and some other wounds. I took him to the emergency vet that afternoon and he has been on oral antibiotics as well as antibiotic eye drops. My daughter named him Blitz Murphy Hickman and it feels like he has been in our family for much longer than six days! He is sweet and smart and very playful. His favorite activity is waking Hank up at about 5am, either batting him in the face or sitting on and sliding off of Hank's head. Hank likes Blitz so much he doesn't even mind the wake up. Tonight, Blitz was hiding under couch a lot. We got him out and his poor right eye is beyond swollen. He had been getting better--but now that eye looks like it might need surgery. We are at NC State Small Animal Emergency department right now. It's odd to be a human nurse in the animal hospital. Poor Blitz is being treated right now and Ophthalmology is being consulted. Needless to say, I have no point of reference for kitten eyeball surgery prices, but I imagine it will be more than I currently have available. I am hoping you can share this story with your friends and family, and that those who are moved to contribute monetarily to Blitz's care can do so. If this is a successful campaign, I promise that any extra will be donated to local animal rescue. Please feel free to let me know some good charities to consider! I am new to this animal rescue game, but Blitz is worth it! Thanks in advance for sharing. Ashley
