Refugee Education

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

As many of you  know I work as a centre manager of Barangaroo Early Learning Centre as part of the Guardian Group. Earlier this year Guardian as an organisation choose to support "The Nest" project, in Lesvos Greece. "The Nest" is based in the over crowded refugee camp on Lesvos and its a place for young children to learn, express themselves and have a good time.
Guardian came to know about "The Nest" through Alise Shafer Ivey, a consultant from LA who helped found "The Nest". Alise's service "The Pedagogical institute" in LA is the main sponsor. Alise's relationship with Guardian is, she has provided many professional development workshops for the educators and families.

The Nest requires funding for resources, electricity, water and maintenance of the room.  They also require a consistent stream of qualified professional educators to volunteer their time to educate the children and to mentor and work alongside the refugee helpers

How are Guardian and I  supporting "The Nest".

Guardian will be supporting 6 educators to go and Volunteer at the nest  while donating $1000 towards the educators expenses and 1 week of  paid leave.

I will be departing for Lesvos, Greece on Wednesday 7th of November 2018 and working with the nest until the 23rd of November 2018.

I will be covering the rest of my expenses's (flights, accommodation, food) myself, which is well in excess of $1000. I will also be bring some resources with me, upon request of the nest coordinators.

I would really appreciate a small donation that can be made to sustain the running of this fundamental service. We all believe in the power of education, especially for our little one's. Refugee Children are some of our most vulnerable world citizens, This is why I choose to support causes that enables them to experience a sense of belonging and have opportunity to learn while in such a unsure environment.

As I see many of you on a regular basis, I'm more than happy to have a discussion and answer any questions you may have about what the funding will be used for.
