THE CALL: 40 Days In The Wilderness
Ezekiel 3:4-5 - "He then said to me: 'Go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them. You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel.'"
40 days and 40 nights...
Last year, while in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, the Lord spoke to Matt and me;
"Return to Israel and remain."
Absolutely no further details were given as to the purpose of this calling, nor the length of stay; nonetheless, an immediate response was required.
The weightiness of this summons was not lost on us, for life in the Middle East is precarious at best. Every day since Israel became a nation in 1948, her actions have occupied the front page of newspapers around the world. And for 70 years, threats to her sovereign security have dominated the landscape, just as it was prophesied to Abraham 3,900 years ago.
Our response to God's call...
It remains a mystery today, [one year later], what will be asked of us, however, these last three years at our ministry post, the Deeper Living Center, has no doubt trained and prepared us, along with several others who are also being launched into the "brigade for Christ."
No matter how much this mission stacks up against human reasoning, personal comfort and safety, peer opinion, extended-family disapproval, and our ridiculously limited personal finances... the ONLY correct response to the voice of God when He speaks is a resounding, "Yes!"
Covenant with God - sealed forever...
Interestingly, just three days before we heard God's command to "Return to Israel and remain", Matt and I were standing in the waters of the Jordan River, making Covenant with God; to seal forever our marriage and our individual commitments to serve as soldiers of Jesus Christ - "All for You, Lord."
To say the timing was curious is an understatement, but looking back, we know He moved our hearts in the deepest and most passionate way for Him [and for one another] in order to answer this command without resistance.
What will you do on your mission?
As Jesus sent out the 72, two-by-two, they went with nothing more than a 'measure of faith' granted them by the Holy Spirit to encourage, pray, minister, and most importantly, share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Matt and I are called to do the same.
Luke 10:2-4 "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals."
We will follow His promptings - as one wandering the wilderness. We will pray each morning and follow His instructions...
If Galilee... we will go.
If Jerusalem... we will go.
If Mount Tabor... we will go.
1) We shall meet those He puts in our path, and move as He directs our steps;
2) We shall speak His Words as He puts them in our mouth, and pray for those in need;
3) We shall eat what is provided, and sleep where there is hospitality;
4) At any given opportunity, we will report back what we are allow share, and treasure up what must be kept silent.
Proverbs 20:24; "A person's steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand their own way?"
Faith and trust is all we will carry with us. May we grow in obedience and wisdom, for what lies ahead is known to no one.
Reality check...
We are fully aware Israel is the hotbed of the Middle East, and with the move of US Embassy to Jerusalem [while we are there], along with other unknown chain of events and foreign military strategies mounting up, the threat level in this land has been elevated to a fever pitch. The people need encouragment; both believer and unbelievers. This tiny stretch of real estate is landlocked to the north, east, and south by hostile enemy nations. Sounds of fired missiles echo in the desert as one travels the countryside, yet, the Hand of God is clearly resting upon the Holy Land as the world witnesses a mountain of Biblical prophesies being fulfilled in this day!
We are called to encourage the 'remnant', and to make Yeshua known to those who God grants us, through His grace and abiding love.
Wisdom and good counsel will be available to us through the trusted friends and contacts we've made in Israel. We understand the terrain is challenging and that danger will always be before us. However, our intention is to learn the deepest level of obedience and trust.

Keith Thomas, Matt and I will lead 35 guest throughout Israel, experiencing God while visiting sites mentioned throughout the Old and New Testament.

Second Leg of Journey: May 6 - June 4, 2018
* Wilderness with God
At the end of the tour, Matt and I will see our party off at the airport in Tel Aviv, then turn toward the wilderness to backpack with God.

Mount Carmel will be our home base...
We will keep our home base in a small community on top of Mount Carmel, overlooking the Jezreel Valley, also known as the Valley of Armageddon.
Homeward bound...
Our flight home to Ohio is scheduled for June 4th. It is our intention to board that flight and make our way home to Cincinnati.
Will you help us?
There are three needs...
1) Most important, will you pray for us each day?
We need you and your prayers carry more value than our words can possibly express. Will you pray? We will attempt make contact with you through Facebook at every possible connecting point... but if you will join us through prayer, we will be forever indebted.
2) Will you check in on Betty and the others at the Deeper Living Center?
We know that the Spirit of the Lord will rise up and dwell deeply with everyone there, but it would give us great comfort knowing there is a support team looking out for them.
3) Will you help us financially?
One of the crazy things about this is - God knows there is no way we can pull this off financially at this time. We must trust Him with this - to swallow hard... and ask for your help. All of you who know us know how hard this is, so may we say in advance -- Thank you, THANK YOU for your support.
*Note: The funds we are asking will be used for travel expenses; bus and train fare, lodging, food, ministry needs, and unexpected expenses and/or emergencies along the way.
