Gabriel's Story...

Gabriel used to be a healthy and active 14-year-old boy. He always enjoyed playing outdoors and led a rigorous and active life. He especially loved parkour, playing air-soft with friends and camping with his Boy Scout troop. Gabriel’s active life was halted abruptly last fall, when he developed mysterious and intense back pain. He has seen many doctors and has received just as many opinions. The pain was so severe he was soon restricted to bed rest. His parents did not give up, seeking more opinions and for a time going off the insurance network! It is so painful for Gabriel they even acquired an adjustable hospital bed because it hurt too much for him to move. Gabriel went through many tests; no stone was left unturned. Finally, the doctors discovered that Gabriel has a spinal condition, very rarely seen in children, yet this is the latest theory they are testing.
It will be a long and difficult road to recovery and mobility for Gabriel. His parents have done everything they can to find him the help and care to solve his problem. They have spent their savings, accrued debt, and are risking hearth and home to fund his appointments, treatments, co-pays, medications, labs, MRIs and x-rays.
Although they consider this as a private struggle, I offered to initiate crowdfunding through GoFundMe seeing this as a problem bigger than them.

Thank you,
Michael Martin, Gabriel’s uncle.
