For 10 years we have asked, chatted, commented and talked about 7 on 7 football being all around Iowa, but not in Iowa. In 2018 we got tired of talking and had our first tournament with 3 high school teams. In 2019, we invested a little money and a lot of time to produce 4 events, energize 8 communities and introduced over 400 kids to the game. The purpose behind Iowa 7 on 7 football is to bring the fast paced, exciting game of 7 on 7 football to the state of Iowa. 7 on 7 football succeeds where other forms of football don't. Keep the game fun, teach football concepts and build the love of the game. It also removes the collisions that cause heart burn for mom, and allows kids of all shapes and sizes to participate without restriction.
Although many have memories of 3 yards and a cloud of dust and enjoy the nostalgia of football past, change is needed and coming. We have to plan and make adjustments so that football can have a future. The attacks on football have hurt participation in the game greatly and altered Friday nights across America for many communities that can't field a team due to fears. The thing that people forget is that football involves many people not only playing, but cheering, marching, coaching and volunteering. It is the ultimate team and ultimate community game. By supporting Iowa 7 on 7 football you support the future of football.
Your dollars will go to build the grass roots programs that will start 7 on 7 teams, organizations, and leagues across the state. Your dollars will be spent in Iowa getting venues and fields for games. They will be spent on soft helmets that help keep the game even safer than it already is. Your dollars support the big kid with a cannon arm that wants to play quarterback. Your dollars will support kids that can't afford more expensive games and teams. Any baseball or lacross tournament cost between 300 and 500 dollars per team. Our events will only cost $150 to allow everyone to participate.
