Shallow Water Blackout Education

Donation protected

Our mission is to help prevent avoidable drowning deaths from Shallow Water Blackout (SWB) through awareness and education after we learnt the deadly lesson that long & continuous underwater Breath Holding CAN & DOES KILL fit, capable and competitive Swimmers.

We are striving to raise funds to purchase brochures for Schools, Swim Centres, Doctors Surgeries, etc, we also need Posters, wrist bands and numberous other tools to raise awareness and get the message out. I would love to be able to supply free signs to council pools, however these all come at a cost, not everything can be donated all of the time. I would love to be able to travel Australia to educate you, your children, adults, swim centres, lifeguards, you name it, we want to share the Dangers and how to swim underwater more safley. Unfortunatly funding gives us road blocks,  I am unable to stop full time work, so we do this is our spare time to help people like you! Everyday people, the people who need to be aware. With assisted funding your donation will go towards all the eductaional tools we need to help spread the message further.

Why we do this: Our 12 year old nephew, Jack MacMillan, a bloody great kid, I might add, died in his family’s backyard pool, in less than 1mtr of water under supervision. He was a fit, water loving, sportman. Jack lost his life on the Australia Day Long weekend, 2 years ago in 2013, just 2 days before starting high school. The cause:- Drowning from Shallow Water Blackout. He had been breath-holding to beat his personal best. No-one seems to know the deadly dangers and the KILLER that lerks in our waters from simply holding your breath. YES SWIMMERS DROWN WITHOUT EVEN REALISING THEY'RE IN TROUBLE. WE LEARNT THAT THE HARD WAY!

Since that fateful and life changing day, my husband Gary & I started a website, facebook page and  twitter account to help raise awareness - Shallow Water Blackout Australia. We are  committed to educate anyone who'll listen about Shallow Water Blackout. These deaths  are fully preventable.

Were YOU aware of the RISKS & DANGERS of breath-holding in water ?? To learn more, please visit: - www.shallowwaterblackout.org
