I am a fourth year dental student at Howard University. I recently spent a small portion of my summer break participating in an exciting and very rewarding mission trip to orphanage in Haiti. As a result of this enriching experience I have looked for and found another service opportunity, but this time it is located in Takoradi, Ghana. As you may know as student my funds are limited, but my desire, availability and ability to serve are at a high level. I would like to solicit your support to help make this experience a reality.
Below you will find a youtube link to the site I plan on working at:
My externship in Ghana will last for 3 weeks (Dec 15- Jan 5): Two Weeks will be spent treating patients in the city of Takoradi, Ghana at the local dental clinic. One week will be spent treating patients in a rural village in the countryside and teaching them about oral health.
The beautiful thing about this project is that nearly all the funds (airfare not included) that are requested for dental students to participate in the program actually go to help support the dental clinic by: paying for the dental supplies that are needed at the clinic, paying salaries for the local medical staff, and paying for educational outreach ventures to the local communities.
What ever support you are able to give to help me in my endeavors to participate in this externship will be greatly appreciated.
