Keep A Boy And His Mum From Homelessness

Hello, friends. This is a picture of my good friend Liz and her 8-year-old son, J. Liz is having a terrible month, and she really needs some help, so I set up this page for you to read her story and support her if you can manage.

Liz is an incredible person: she is a single mother to an autistic child, managed to get her Bachelors degree after becoming a mother, and has been steadily employed ever since, doing anything she can to take care of her baby. She's a very caring, lovely person, but this month the universe has decided to be extra cruel to her and J, and it's threatening to leave them both homeless by the end of this month. Her stable living situation was ruined last month when her two roommates bolted, leaving her to pay three times her normal share of rent and causing her to be evicted from the apartment by the 31st of this month. If that weren't enough, her car died shortly after, forcing her to use up the rest of her savings on a downpayment for a new one so that she could continue to commute from an area that didn't offer bus services early enough for her to make it to her job on time. She's spent all her free time looking for a new apartment for just her and J to avoid any similar situations in the future, but everyone is aware of how awful the renting market is right now, and for a single mother with a dependent child it's simply heartbreaking. She's been turned down multiple times even for the cheapest apartments because her single income isn't high enough, and it's getting to the point where the situation is critical--they have TWELVE days until they start living out of her car.

Some of the apartments are willing to lease to them if Liz can provide three months rent in advance, but because her other troubles, Liz's savings are exhausted. She can take care of J and herself on her monthly salary easily, but three months rent is a large chunk of money that she's doing everything she can to come up with. I want to help her escape this run of bad luck, and try to raise $3000 within the next two weeks. Can you help? Her situation with her family leaves her with no one to fall back on but the kindness of friends and charitable strangers. Thanks for reading Liz and J's story. Anything you can give will be a great help, and earn our eternal gratitude.
