Ugly COVID-19 fundraising

For almost a decade, Ugly Kitchen has opened its doors to the surrounding community with welcome arms. We’ve been there for your first big break in NYC from the Philippines, we’ve celebrated your birthdays, thrown your fundraisers, and have been together for every major milestone. We’ve been a piece of home for Filipinos in NYC and would not have it any other way.

Just like all the other restaurants around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic completely hampered our chances of survival. We did everything we could to stay afloat - delivered food to all the hospitals that needed it, expanded our delivery services past Manhattan, provided an outdoor sidewalk bar, set up an outdoor dining space in conjunction with Mister Paradise. In the end, it wasn’t enough to cover rent, and after months of unpaid rent and even with the Gov. Cuomo moratorium law, our landlord suddenly locked us out if our space, wouldn't allow us to go back in even  just to take our things  and stopped  communicating with us altogether 

We’ve spent the last couple of months trying to figure out what the next steps are, but we are paralyzed with mounting utility bills and unpaid back rent.  We do not know what will happen but this fundraiser will help us pay our vendors and suppliers  who we also know are small business owners and struggling at this time.
