3YO Girls Cancer Returns, Family In Crisis!

Melbourne Australian couple Daniel and Tania have faced many challenges in the last ten years. They struggled through seven years of infertility but were elated to eventually conceive twins. A high-risk pregnancy followed and their twins arrived in 2017, 7 weeks early at 33weeks. Immediately the twins a girl and boy were rushed to NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and then spent the next month in The Special Care Nursery.
Daniel and Tania thought the worst was behind them when they finally brought their baby twins home but, little did they know the horrors that were to come. A couple of months later at only three months of age their tiny baby girl JD was rushed to hospital and would undergo emergency surgery. The discovery of a cancerous tumor (an extremely rare complication of Leukemia) resulted in the family receiving the devastating news JD had a rare and aggressive subtype of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
JD was admitted to the Royal Children’s Hospital where she would stay for the next 10 months fighting for her life. The family lived by her bedside and watched her endure enormous suffering and pain. Their beautiful daughter endured several intensive cycles of chemotherapy but her cancer was just too ferocious to be stopped. She relapsed multiple times and each time the family received the devastating news their were “No treatment options left.” When JD relapsed for a second time her cancer moved from the bone marrow to the spinal fluid of the central nervous system, at this point she was classified as “Incurable.”
JD would eventually go home, as an outpatient she received ongoing palliative chemotherapy. Daniel and Tania gave up everything in their own lives devoting all their time to caring for JD and her twin brother. They fought for JD in everyway they could never giving up hope for her survival. Miraculously JD defied expectations and would eventually become chemo free. A year passed and JD was doing amazingly but the consequences of her disease and treatment were obvious. Despite some brain damage, inability to speak and other physical impairments JD is a happy vibrant little girl.
A few days before Christmas Daniel and Tania received earth shattering news, JD’s cancer has returned. A cancerous tumor was discovered and on Christmas Eve their gorgeous girl underwent surgery. In the coming weeks JD will commence ongoing cancer treatment but given her history prognosis is not positive.
This family have suffered greatly already and will now be pushed to their absolute limits again emotionally, physically and financially. It is our hope to raise funds for them to lighten their very heavy load, to ensure they can pay their bills, keep their house and most importantly spend quality time caring for and loving their gravely ill daughter and her twin brother. We hope the family can also use the funds to create happy and loving memorable moments as their daughter's future is very uncertain.
