John's Journey

Donation protected
On Thursday, November 23, 2017 John was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasized to his liver and possibly his lungs.  John had emergency surgery to do a Loop Colostomy in the Transverse Colon.  The following week John had another CT scan and a liver biopsy to determine the treatment options that Mayo Clinic could offer him.  He is not eligible for immunotherapy and so Mayo Clinic suggested chemotherapy.  Mayo Clinic’s prognosis is that his cancer is aggressive, inoperable and incurable.  After much research, prayer and talking to many people we have made the decision that chemo is not the best option.  On January 11th, 2018 we began working with a Dr. in Mankato, MN who has had a lot of success with helping people cure their cancer using IV treatments.  The medical bills from Olmsted Medical and Mayo Clinic are in the tens of thousands.  Thankfully insurance is covering much of it.  But we still have a large amount to pay.  Everything we will be doing in Mankato, MN is not covered by insurance at all.  Everything we are doing will be out of pocket costs and it is thousands of dollars every week.
