Alex Sheeler's Cheerleading

Here are some facts you don't know about me and why cheer has become my outlet and escape from things. Also, I want to be a role model to people who are going through hard times letting them know there is light at the end of the tunnel! My birth mother was a single mother and had two kids prior to me. She suffered from bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, paranoia, and was addicted to hard drugs which led her to assaulting her best friend and being incarcerated. My mother could not support my needs and I was placed into foster care and moved from house to house in need of a loving family. My asthma prevented me from staying in Philadelphia because the caregiver had to be certified in child CPR in order to adopt me. Then a home was found for me in a small town in Pennsylvania with a caucasian couple by the names, Joann and David Sheeler. They provided a loving and supportive environment for me to learn and grow. My freshman and sophomore school year were difficult and I failed a class and just wanted to drop out. Junior year was my first season of cheer where I learned to balance my time out and be able to excel at both. Senior year came around and it was my second season of cheer and it helped me receive honor roll all 4 quarters. It allowed me to focus on being a student first and and an athlete second. I was finally adopted in September of 2003 and I have been with this family for the past sixteen years! This season are financed are tight and I am picking up more shifts at my job to try and help. This is my last season of senior team eligibility and this is my passion. Thanks for your time!
