Tuition, books, and parking (Oh, my!)

Like many high school graduates, I went straight to college. Attending Georgia Southern University was a dream come true for not only me, but for my parents (who never made it out of middle school). Coming from meager beginnings, I took out student loans and accepted the maximum return. After graduation, I landed a grown-up job that sparked my interest in becoming an educator. Sadly, my mom's health began to decline, and I had to move home to help her. After her death, my father, who was battling terminal C.O.P.D. (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asked me to move in with him. He told me that he wanted me to become a teacher. I began taking classes at Darton College and realized that becoming a teacher is exactly what I want. After his death, I moved in with my sister and began taking classes at Georgia Southern.

My major is Early Childhood Education, which will certify me to teach Pre-K to fifth grade (P-5). I have enjoyed each and every second of my classes, and learning as an adult is totally different than learning as a teenager. I have held high academic standards for myself, and it has paid off. I've made the Dean's List and received Outstanding Scholar awards.


This week, the week before classes begin in my senior year, I found out that I am out of financial aid. I have received all of the aid that G.S.U. has to offer. Ever. My balance is $1638. A parking pass will cost $150. Who knows how much books cost, but I'll buy the cheapest, most beat up copies I can, or borrow them gratefully.


My dream is to become a teacher, and that dream is so close to coming true! Please help me raise the funds for my senior year!
