Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration

4 years ago when I was laid-off as my job as a corporate trainer, I had no idea what was in store for me. The journey from that time until today has been one of faith, growth and development! About 2 1/2 years ago, I started working at a re-entry program in Indianapolis, IN. Since that time, I have developed a passion for re-entry and a heart for the men and women returning home from prison.In my 2 1/2 years working in re-entry I have identified many of the key barriers to success that need to be addressed with people returning from prison. I have used my background in training and have developed a training/programming curriculum customized for the re-entry population. This training curriculum pairs life skills and job skills training with biblical principles and real-world scenarios. Once the training is complete, I have developed relationships with several business owners in the Indianapolis area who are willing to provide transitional jobs to the people we serve. These jobs are in production work, retail service, manufacturing, small engine repair and pick-up/delivery. The goal is to have these men and women for a period of 6 months. The training and transitional jobs would receive an hourly pay slightly higher than minimum wage.

I would use any donations given to me to complete the 501(c) 3 application process, put the finishing touches on the programming and begin to serve an initial group of formerly incarcerated individuals.
