Sarah-Jennifer Carson Thompson had a partial nephrectomy (kidney removal) on 7/7/17, and a cancerous mass was removed.
Due to recent life changes, this single mother of nine does not have health insurance. Sarah applied for all assistance and did not qualify. At this point insurance available to her consider these preexisting, and she is considered self-pay.
Because of your generosity, she was able to pay initial deposit required for her nephrectomy! This helped save her life! Thank you!!!
Unfortunately, during all of this, it was found that Sarah will also need her gall bladder removed. We were hoping this could take place at the same time as the nephrectomy, but unfortunately they could not. There will also be several follow-up appointments, medications, and possibly surgeries and cancer treatments. The total cost of this could eclipse $25,000.
Sarah is generous, caring and someone who will literally give you the shirt off her back if needed. Seriously, just ask next time you see her. After discovering the shocking number of local children who are solely dependent on school lunches, Sarah's non-profit organization "Sidney's Safe Foundation" has delivered thousands of backpacks filled with food to schools across the Shoals area, for children in unfortunate situations to take home with them for weekends for eight years and counting.
This family has been through multiple traumatic experiences during the past decade. Among them, the deaths of two immediate family members left three small children orphaned whom Sarah adopted without hesitation and continues to raise as her own. Through it all Sarah has faced them with strength and courage and the faith that God will show her the way.
