Tina Shambaugh Dog Attack Fund

For those of you familiar with Tina's story, then you're probably aware of her situation and the hardship she's endured after she was attacked and mauled by two pit bulls back in August 2013 in Riverside, CA. If you are not familiar with the story, then please click here for our Facebook page to learn more. (Warning, there are graphic photos of her injuries on that link.)

We have been friends with Tina for several years now and she is a wonderful and caring person, always willing and able to help anyone in any way. We trusted her with taking care of and watching our home and dog sitting our three dogs whenever we were away. And some of you may have met her at our get-togethers and also at our wedding. So we want to make sure that we can help her in return in any way we can through this horrible situation.

It has been about 3-months or so now since the dog attack and Tina and her son have been struggling to get by. She can no longer work and her son's paycheck can barely cover the bills anymore. She is a single mother and all her family and relatives live out of state so the only people to take care of her is her son, plus her friends and neighbors. All her medical expenses is currently on a Lean with a pending lawsuit with no definitive outcome. She has been to a slew of doctors over the past months for her face injury, her eye injury, the nerves in her arm and her knee. And the current prognosis is not good. The right side of her face is paralyzed. Her eye is slowly losing its peripheral vision and may go dark completely. The nerves in her arm has been severed and is not reconnecting, which means she has no strength in her right arm and the nerves that control her right hand is useless. She can barely even close her hand to make a fist. And she tore the meniscus in her knee when she was knocked over during the attack so she is unable to walk without the support of a leg brace.
Just to start, she will need extensive surgery in reconnecting her nerves and fixing her knee which will leave her further incapacitated post surgery. And in the months following, she will need surgery in her face to restore function, movement and tissue replacement.

In the long run, she will be handicapped for the rest of her life. She has been receiving help from family and a few donations from friends and neighbors but unfortunately she will need to apply for food stamps soon and she is still waiting for disability to get approved. She is in good spirits and getting weekly therapy to help her deal with her Post Traumatic Stress. She is a strong woman and just taking it one day at a time as best as she can. We just want to make sure she can still keep a roof over her head and be able to take care of her bills during the holiday season. So we would like to take this time to ask our wonderful and generous friends and family for some additional help if they can. We have opened up an account with the website Go Fund Me. We don't have a specific goal to meet, whether you can spare $1 or $100, any amount will be greatly appreciated. This will help with gas money, utility bills, transportation to her doctor appointments, groceries and rent. The donations will go directly to Tina and not a charity that will split the funds. Please pass this along to anyone else that you may know who would like to help in some way.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about Tina's situation, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this and if you can help, it will be greatly appreciated.
