Saving Willie

This is a story of great love that started with a foster failure. Willie was an owner surrender and was in a high rate kill shelter so I decided to give him a temporary home and save him from you-know-what. Little did I know I will fall in love with him (and all his ruffles!) after only few days. Week into fostering him he officially became a member of my family, my furry kid.

Willie never really had a clean bill of health – a lot of skin allergies, food intolerances, arthritis, broken leg (which is why his previous owners left him at the shelter) and the latest addition to this list - incontinence.

All of this I got under control with care and let’s be honest, a lot of money. I kept with all of it and did whatever I had to do. If it was for the betterment of quality of life of my baby boy I never questioned a single red cent spent!

Things got more complicated a few days ago when he couldn’t stand up. He wasn’t able to hold himself on his paws.

Side Note: when it comes to food he is like a garbage disposal - if given the opportunity he would eat anything and everything! That morning he didn’t want his breakfast.

I knew something was off so I took him to the vet immediately. He got an ultrasound, body scan, blood and urine work, fluids and some medication. The problem was that his blood pressure and red blood cell count was alarmingly low, like he was losing blood but there was no internal bleeding.

After spending the day with his vet, Willie unfortunately didn’t get better so he had to spend the night at the vet hospital and get blood transfusion.

It’s been 2 days and he is still not getting better; Willie's body is not producing red blood cells and will need more blood transfusions and tests and ultimately a bone marrow test.

Needless to say, all of that is costing a small fortune, which I unfortunately don’t have.

There are no words that can explain how painful it is to not be able to help someone who you love so much. I sincerely hope there are people who will be willing to help me help Willie. He is uniquely weird, charmingly imperfect and the best decision of my life!

I would be forever grateful to all kind souls that can help, especially in these trying times.

Please consider helping us, we will send you so much positive vibes, you won’t regret it!!
