Hit by car. Need Medical help

For most of you that know me, you know I am good at many things, asking for help is not one of those. It is with a heavy heart after exhausting so many of my options that I ask for a moment of your time.

January 19th of this year I was rear ended by another car while stopped. The crash was very intense, though it left close to no damage to either car, I was left with a strong feeling of shock after the impact. If you have ever been in shock, you find that things don't hurt as they normally should until after the shock wears off. I declined medical services at the time of the event from the police on scene. As I was in shock and I felt this was something that could be walked off. In a few short hours I found I was very wrong.

I went to my doctor on January 23th to make note of the accident and to be examined. I was seriously sore on my left side, my head hurt badly by this time and I had limited vision in my right eye. I also had a small spot in my lower left spine that felt as though someone had jammed a screw driver in that spot and I had lost feeling to the upper portion of my left leg. It was recommended that I get several X-rays to check for broken bones which I did and the X-rays came back negative for broken bones. An MRI was also recommended and that I have not been able to afford. Since the accident many things have cleared up, though the deep pain in my lower left back remains along with the loss of feeling in my upper left leg. This had made basic things such as walking very difficult and very painful.

Due to poor health from a prior event and my health insurance failing me this year, I have been unable to work or pay for needed medical bills I must cover. The car accident has deeply compounded this. As for car insurance, I have found Colorado is a "No Fault" state. To my understanding, the person that hit me, their insurance refuses to pay citing the car was never at the location of the accident. I have tried working with the insurance of the person whose car I was a passenger in and my own insurance to many dead ends. The police made an incident report number but never filed a report. The incident report number is 2017-0003915 with Parker PD, Parker Colorado. The incident number does not correctly identify the car that hit me and does not identify the driver. (I made quick note of the car’s license plate after the accident as I felt the person that hit me might flee given what they said to me). There are police body cam videos that place the person’s car at the accident, it is readily identifiable with the correct license plate and driver, along with both cars at the scene. For those that would ask for more than a bad incident report number when helping, a link to the body cams can be provided. I can understand the need to see something from someone you may not know to better make this a real and tangible event.

My goals, first and foremost is to get the MRI taken care of to find out what is causing pain in my lower left back and lack of feeling in my upper left leg. Once known, the course required to fix this. I know some might say to wait out insurance to pay and I have waited. The quality of life and simple ability to walk have been severely limited to me. I would ask for your help to resolve this sooner as this is no way to live. I have placed a basic guess to get this processes going and estimated what I think it might take to cover what I have paid out of pocket so far which is 100% and starting step of the MRI and follow ups to recover.

I thank you for taking the time to read my story and helping out in a time of need.

A little about myself. I moved to Colorado in 1999 after a failed first year of college in the north east. I came here for the beauty of the mountains, I lived to ski every moment I could in the winter and hiked my way through the summers. All the while working low end jobs to find my true calling which turned out to be accounting. This led me to enroll in classes at Colorado Mountain College and later transferred to the College of Business at Colorado State University. I spent my first year after graduating college in accounting before making an amazing career jump to the field of solar energy to start a new business with my father. This lasted for six great years until the economic down turn finally pushed me out of the industry and back to accounting. Throughout these years, I have still remained passionate to the Colorado outdoors, skiing every day I could and hiking through my summers in the mountains. In recent years I have fallen ill and been unable to do that which I have always been so passionate about. I have had little recovery from my illness so far, this accident was the straw that finally broke me physically and financially.
