TECH2TEACH

The children at the Homework Club of the Love to Learn program in Battersea are currently facing a pressing issue—and we need your support in providing the solution!

Children of this club, many coming from refugee backgrounds, do not have the facilities to access the Internet. This digital poverty is having a huge impact on these children's education, restricting their access to schooling delivered through online platforms and the "Corona-club" Love to Learn have been holding over Zoom as well as affecting their wellbeing during these difficult times. This is where we need your help.

KCL STAR is raising funds to buy Amazon Fire Tablets, protective cases and 3 months of data for 55 children who are in the Homework Club. The aim is to provide technological support for these children, to ensure they fulfil their educational potential and learn in a variety of ways—all facilitated by the internet. As of 2018, a little over 15% of the population in London are non-users of the internet. Our fundraiser also aims to reduce this rate, albeit at a local level.

Providing tablets and internet access will improve digital literacy amongst the children, and in turn their families and community—essential in our increasingly internet-dependent world. It will also help them in keeping touch with their friends and peers at a time when social distancing is encouraged. Lack of digital access is an existing issue for the Homework Club, it has only gotten magnified due to Covid-19 circumstances. This is why now, more than ever, your help is needed to make sure these children get the resources they need to live up to their full potential.
