Brigitte's Battle With Brain Cancer

Donation protected
For those of you who have been following my second momma, Brigitte Jaeggi's, battle with brain cancer... This update is not the one we were hoping to give you. Her family chose to keep the most recent information under wraps and off of social media, and have dealt with to the best of their abilities. They have taken the sourest of lemons and tried to continue on with making their lemonade. They are always the ones who are quick to help those around them in need, whether they know them personally or not, so asking for help doesn't come easy for them. That's what I'm here for. They need your help.

If you are new to her story, let me fill you in. During the summer of 2016, Brigitte went to the ER to get checked after she developed a facial droop and her family members and coworkers became worried after she became very forgetful. After taking several CT scans, MRI's and other blood work, the doctors found what they thought to be two tumors in her brain - One the size of a tennis ball and the other the size of a grape. She had brain surgery on July 11, 2016 to remove the tumors and they found that she actually had three tumors. They were able to remove the larger tennis ball size tumor and the lemon sized tumor, but the smallest tumor that was the size of a grape was too deep in her brain for the doctors to safely operate on.

Brigitte began aggressive radiation and chemo shortly after her surgery. Her daughter Ashley and granddaughter Brantlee took her 6 days a week for 7 weeks. This 7 weeks was absolutely brutal on Brigitte's already deteriorating health, and landed her in the hospital for an additional 15 days afterwards due to blood clots in her lungs. In January she was given the option to begin chemo again, but because it did nothing to shrink her remaining tumor the first time, Brigitte decided to spend the precious time she has left at home with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, rather than poisoning her body anymore.

Fast forward to March 18, 2017. Brigitte had a seizure while at home and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. She spent a few days in ICU and this is when the doctors recommended for Hospice to come in and help her remain as comfortable as possible during her last days on Earth. If you scan back through you will see that Brigitte has been hospitalized more days than ever imaginable throughout this entire process. Her hospital bills alone are upwards of $70,000, and that is just the tip of the iceberg as there will be funeral expenses and wrapping up of other expenses as Brigitte transitions. Brigitte's life insurance was cancelled by her former employer, and all expenses will be left for Ashley and Josh to pay for.

Because of Brigitte's health continuing to deteriorate, Ashley stepped away from work a few months ago to focus on taking care of her Mom, as well as taking care of herself while pregnant, and her 3 year old. However, it has become almost physically impossible for her to take on this task alone lately and Josh, who is the financial supporter of the family, will be looking into taking unpaid time away from work to offer the necessary help needed during Brigitte's last days on Earth.

So, there it is. With permission, I give you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined that this would happen to Brigitte. Out of all people in this world, my Mama B is the last person who deserved any of this. Her and her daughter are the strongest women I know, and have an amazing man, Josh to support them and to hold them both up when they fall, literally.

However, they are in desperate need of your help. I pray that you find it in your hearts to help them in their time of need, because I can say from the bottom of my heart they would help anyone else in the same situation. Please pray for Brigitte's comfort and understanding, and for Josh and Ashley to be able to serve her to the best of their abilities while continuing to take care of themselves. Pray for Brigitte's son Patrick as he deals with the pain from afar. Pray for their hearts as they are surely broken, and pray for Brantlee, Brigitte's three-year-old granddaughter who will be missing one of the most important women in her life. God bless. ❤️
