A Season Of Healing

To everything there is a season...a time to love, a time to hate; a time of war, a time of peace. As a family, we have felt the tensions of love and hate, war and peace, with such intensity over this last year as we've faced debilitating mental health issues with our son and brother. We are more than ready to be released of that tension and move fully into a season of gathering and embracing; one full of love and peace! To facilitate this season, we have sought the expert guidance of Shelly Woertink at Pediatric Counseling Center in Kalamazoo (http://www.counselingpcc.com/woertink/index.htm). Her credentials are stunning, but they do not hold a candle to the level of intuitive care and holistic healing she provides. We have worked with MANY therapists over the years, but we can wholeheartedly confirm that Shelly is in a league of her own. To engage her level of expertise, we are required to pay out of pocket for the first 6 weeks of treatment and will then be covering much higher copays beyond that. As we have begun to share the story of what we have been shouldering, we have had many requests asking how people can support us. We haven't had much of an answer, until now. A string of serious events in March made it clear that Erica needed to step away from on-call life and doula work for others in order to be fully on call at home. This was a great choice in regards to getting a firm grasp on which kids have been affected in what ways and to what severity, but has been a challenging choice in regards to loss of income. We feel very vulnerable in asking people to join us in pursuing this healing pathway. Yet, we continue to be pointed back to this venue as an opportunity we should be pursuing.
