Jacob's Top Surgery

Hello there. My name is Jacob and this is probably one of the hardest things I ever had to do and that's saying something. 3 years ago I came out to the world as transgender. It was messy and complicated for everyone around me, including myself. There were lots of tears, heart ache and hurtful words surrounding me but I didn't let any of that stop me from finally becoming who I truly should have been for my whole life. With growing support from friends and family, I got my name legally changed to Jacob Albert on April 13th, 2011 and a few months after, was cleared to start Hormone Replacement Therapy on July 19th, 2011. Not long after that, I got the letter from my therapist stating that the F on my license should be changed to M immediately. More than 2 years after starting Testosterone and going through all of these wonderful things, I can say that I have never been more comfortable in my body because of all the beautiful changes HRT has done for me. But the comfort only goes so far. Living with a female chest has gotten harder and harder with every passing day. It brings my confidence and my self esteem down plenty and I am done feeling like that. So, for over a year I've been saving up for top surgery to finally have my chest match my gender. I've done my research and have picked a great surgeon in Cleveland, Ohio. His name is Dr. Daniel Medalie and his work is some of the best. I will be going to him somewhere in January of 2014 to receive a double mastectomy with nipple grafting. The cost for the surgery is around $6500 and with travel and all the supplies for caring for my chest after surgery, it all comes out to between $7000-8000. I will be driving to Ohio with my super supportive girlfriend Aimee. Now, this is where you all come in. So far, I have managed to save up a bit over $2000. I literally hate asking for help from anyone but there comes a point in time when everyone needs to suck up their pride and just do it. I've officially hit that point. I"m not asking for much from anyone, even the smallest amount helps. I'm still going to be saving as much as I can but I can't do it alone. I have received some generous donations from my friends so far and it's made everything so much easier and it gives me hope.
