<div>Anyone who knows Bowen knows he’s one of the hardest working young men you’ll ever find. Before his mission, he would get up early and move pipe, then go work a full day for a farmer, and then come home and move more pipe, take care of his animals, and fall into bed, only to do it all over again. He loves to work, and his employers fight over him because everyone knows this, along with how loyal and true Bowen is.

<div>He’s been serving a mission since the middle of November last year in the Anchorage, Alaska mission. He loved the work and didn’t want to come home. So it was a little shocking to him, family, and friends when he had to come home to get diagnosed with cancer recently. <strong>In an attempt to help alleviate the financial burden some, we created this account to support Bowen and his family to help cover the costs of treatment and various expenses while they are focused on dealing with what truly matters most.</strong>

<div>All in the last 3 weeks
</div>
<div>The Bailey family learned a little over 2 weeks ago that Bowen Bailey, (their son &amp; brother) would be returning home from faithfully serving an LDS mission for almost 11 months. He had been giving everything he had but hadn’t felt well for almost the entirety of his service.

<div>He’s been dealing with health issues almost from the beginning, that he didn’t understand why the symptoms were occurring. Being young, inexperienced, and still learning about his body, he felt he just needed to “be tough” and work through the difficulty. In March 2024, Bowen first started to mention feeling weird, and that something was just not right with his body. After many months of dealing with the symptoms of excessive sweating all the time, and itchiness all over, he finally went to see the doctor in late summer. Unfortunately, they simply prescribed medicine that would make him not sweat, but this caused other issues like cotton mouth and excessively dry and cracked skin. After taking that medicine for a few weeks, he got off of it, only to have all the symptoms come back, and with more intensity. Then about 3 weeks ago, at the beginning of October, Bowen had a really bad cold, and what his parents described as bronchitis. They encouraged him to go see a doctor. It wasn’t until his companion urged him to make the appointment that he finally consented and went to the appointment.

<div>The doctors initially felt he had pneumonia, and then tuberculosis. But after imaging, they realized that he had a mass in his chest and that he needed to get treatment at home. He immediately had a doctor's appointment after coming home and a biopsy was scheduled. It took 5 days for an actual diagnosis after that. The final report was: Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin Lymphoma.

<div>We immediately saw an oncologist from the Huntsman Cancer Institute satellite office in Madison Hospital in Rexburg on Wednesday of last week. During that first appointment with the oncologist, we learned that Bowen basically has a tumor the size of a large cantaloupe in his chest growing out of his lymph system, and it's taking up space where his lungs should be, which is why he can't breathe very well. (You can see the pictures attached of his tumor in his chest next to his lungs.)

<div>Since last week, we have been making all the arrangements for all the prep work needed prior to treatment.
</div>
<div>Friday we finished up surgery for them to install a port.
</div>
<div>Monday and Tuesday we did his PET scan, echocardiogram, and more.
</div>
<div><strong>Chemo started today, and will happen every 2 weeks for a 2-month plan, followed by a PET scan again, and then another 2-month regimen, followed by another scan, etc. He does this until all of the cancer is gone and he is free of this nasty affliction.</strong>
