Showers of Hope

Since Truckers forthe Homeless  started in June 2012 we have fed and provided necessities to thousands of underprivileged people.  

Recently we met a man named JJ at an event we were blessed to host and JJ ate with us and got to know us. As the day went on he listened to the music and laughed with us. JJ got his hair cut, changed into clean clothing,  put on his NEW Bomba socks and started playing corn hole games with some of us. As we were wrapping things up JJ helped us put everything away and thanking us for everything we did for him and the other homeless that day. Then he made a statement that rocked me to my core...

JJ said, "The only thing that would have made this day perfect was a hot shower."

Here is someone who's living in conditions that a lot of us couldn't handle and his idea of a perfect day was being surrounded by people who loved on him, who included him in activities,  who didn't treat him like an outcast, fed him and clothed him and just a SIMPLE SHOWER would have been the icing on the cake. 

So we are trying to make that happen.  At the end of the day, when all the stress and confusion, all the worries and cares are gone, doesn't a shower make you feel refreshed?
