George Family Support

My name is Andrea Pulver. This campaign is for our dear family friends, David, Lizzy, and Amelia George. In the photo with them is unborn baby Zion.

The family was all set for a home delivery at the end of June. Lizzy and Amelia were savoring their last weeks together and looking forward to sharing their time with Zion. David had been deployed to another state for work but was counting the days until he could come home for the birth. The date was getting closer and closer and everyone was anxious to meet their baby boy.

At 35 weeks Lizzy went into labor and David immediately flew home, breaking his contract to come home for the birth of his son. Thankfully he made it in time! Zion was born May 18 at 8:42am. A gorgeous little man with red hair like his dad. They were absolutely in love.

However, due to a rash on his body, he was admitted to the NICU. Over the following 5 days Zion's condition became more apparent and severe, testing positive for Down Syndrome and Congenital Leukemia. On Tuesday, May 23, when they were scheduled to start chemotherapy David and Lizzy received a phone call from the doctor that Zion's sac around his heart was filling with fluid constricting his heart. Over the next 9 or 10 hours they attempted to remove the fluid to give his body a chance to clot the leak but because of the Leukemia his body couldn't handle it. In a last hope Zion was transferred to a pediatric cardiac unit in another city but because of his lack of clotting factors there was nothing they could do. Later that afternoon he took his last breath to the sound of his parents prayers and a his mother singing a lullaby she wrote for her kids.

With empty arms, David and Lizzy have returned home from the hospital. They are choosing to see God's faithfulness in this time of such tremendous grief and are thankful for the moments they could spend with their baby boy, holding his hand and finally him as he neared the end, and hearing their daughter whisper her love to him as she said goodbye at the funeral home.

The financial burden of their hospital stay as well as David having to leave work early is quite overwhelming. They are struggling to see how they will stay afloat over the next 6 weeks until they start to receive paychecks and how they can handle the hospital bills that will start coming in soon. It is my hope that we can gather around them to support them in this area as they work to reestablish their life and family.
