Amor Al Arte Summer/Fall 2017

We are 4 women from the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago that started a resident art initiative to promote art and culture in the neighborhood. We started last year by creating pop up art sessions. We volunteered all summer long and provided free arts and crafts, free face paint, we painted garden beds and benches from two local community gardens (with help of residents and local youth groups) with $600 that we gladly raised for supplies through GoFundMe account last year. This year, we have so many plans for Amor Al Arte. In addition to doing our pop up art sessions. We have decided to rent a space in the neighborhood to have ongoing workshops to focus on health (healthy eating and meditation for women and children), sports (girls' softball league), and art (mural project and pop up art sessions for women and children) by creating structured activities and a safe inclusive space for youth to be part of something constructive and free during the summer.
