EAC has been a huge advocate for service and contribution to the community. This holiday season they are dedicated to giving back in a bigger way than last year! EAC graduates have declared a fundraising goal of $20,000 to donate to the non-profit, CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT.
Children of the Night is a non-profit organization established in 1979 providing intervention for children who are sexually exploited, involved in prostitution or pornography. They’ve rescued over 10,000 American children and provide direct care and support with education for the victims.
Currently there are 600 children in case management and 177 kids that they are tutoring for high school equivalency. Any funds will be used towards this.
Of all sexual abuse victims under the age of 18, 2 out of 3 are ages 12-17. Victims experience long term affects on their mental health along with PTSD, and life long affects on their social, educational and physical domains. We want to donate to this non-profit to support these victims to empower themselves, shift the course of their life and thrive, given their past traumatic experiences.
Starfish Story
"One day a man was walking along the beach, when he noticed a boy hurriedly picking up and gently throwing things into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “Young man, what are you doing?”
The boy replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die."
The man laughed to himself and said, “Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make any difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said …"
“I made a difference to that one."
