Emergency Survival Funds

Donation protected

Hey loves. So, I hate doing this, but we're backed into a corner. Around the beginning of August, my spine was injured. We aren't sure why or how yet (my former CNP refused to order an upright MRI for me), but I haven't been able to walk or lie down since (yes, I sleep upright.. it's not good). Joe, my husband, is taking FMLA leave and has it available till early December.

We're trying to get intermittent FMLA so that he can stay home three days a week and go in to work 10 hours each for the other two. Until that goes through, we are currently depending on his boss to approve 16 hours a week of work. Since that didn't happen last week, we have no income for the next two weeks and that includes upcoming rent money. We put in a request to borrow against Joe's 401k (which we have to repay with interest just like any loan), but that takes several days.

I still have medical co-pays that I have to pay and two more appointments this month. His work is under no current obligation to let him work at all, but cannot allow more than the 16 hours. We are scraping by suddenly by the skin of our teeth. If you can give anything, please help. We're trying desperately to get through.

If we can get the intermittent FMLA in place (with the help of a dear friend who is willing to stay with me those two days a week), we will at least be making some income.

As I said, though, right now, we have roughly $130 to our name to get us through the next two weeks (at least). That is not including any unforseen expenses or bills. That's just for food.

In the meantime, I have a cane and a walker. I am forcing myself to walk throughout the day in short bursts. It is excruciating, but I need to be able to walk. If I can get to the point where I can walk without being a fall risk, Joe can go back to work and I will only need help getting to my appointments.

If you can help us, please do. This is a short term ask (although a big ask) for an emergency that we were in no way expecting. As soon as I find out what the injury is, I will post it here.

Again, I am so sorry for having to ask for help, but we need help.

Our rent is $610 per month. Our bills are around $500 per month (not food, just bills). Our food bill is around $800 per month ($200/week) and we can cut back on that as needed. That is why the $1500 estimate.

If you can spare anything, please do. If you can spare something more immediate, please let me know and we'll figure out a way to transfer it more immediately (I do have a paypal account, for example). I wouldn't ask if we didn't need help. Here we are, though, and we very much need help.

My apologies again. I legitimately feel bad for even needing to ask. But, thank you for anyone who can help. We do not expect this to be permanent as I am doing everything in my power to get myself at least walking reliably again. Thank you. Blessings to you all and we love you.
