Hello! I would like for you to meet Duke. He is a St Bernard/German Shepard Mix. He just had his 1st Birthday on June 9th, 2020. He has been an amazing puppy and has trained so easily. He loves going on hikes, chasing sticks, and having his picture taken. He is very energetic and full of life.  He is my LIFE! I suffer from anxiety and he does too. Together we help calm each other. I can feel how scared he is....here is our story...

On May 29th (Friday) I took him to the Vet to get his Vaccines, discuss his constant itching and also to ask for recommendations for his anxiety. He received 3 vaccine shots, a flea/tick treatment and a prescription for a very mild anxiety med. That night I gave him 1 anxiety capsule per dr recommendation.  The next day (Saturday) Duke just wasn't himself, not eating, kinda just moping around, with no energy. I assumed that it was the anxiety med. I chose not to give it to him again until I spoke to the dr. On Monday I called and she stated that it was a very low dose and shouldn't affect him that way.  We decided that we would try again but with half a dose this time. The next day (Tuesday) Duke was still the same. Very tired, not barking, no energy to chase sticks and bring them inside, just not a puppy anymore. I continued thinking it was the anxiety med and decided to not give it again. Three days later (Friday) he still wasn't the same. Just no energy, no appetite, etc. I decided if he wasn't better after the weekend, he would go back to the Vet. That afternoon my 3 year old Nephew fell on him. He didn't seem to be hurt. Duke got up and walked away from him. Later that night I noticed Duke wasn't walking right. Kind of nursing his right leg. I immediately reverted back to the fall. But when we checked him out, nothing seemed to bother him.  By Sunday evening Duke could not walk without stumbling. Monday morning we take him to the Vet and they have no answers. They said he had a double ear infection, a high white blood cell count and possibly rabies....WHAT!! There was NO WAY he had rabies!!! They sent him home and said if he lived past 10 days he didn't have rabies. Gave him a steroid shot, and antibiotic and some ear drops.  Tuesday and Wednesday were tough. By this point he cannot walk at all now. His hind legs seem paralyzed. We then take him to a 2nd Vet for a second opinion. After a week of more antibiotics, muscle relaxers, cage rest and soft food we still have no answers. They want us to take him to UGA and have an MRI done to see if any answers come from that.  This is where I need help.

I miss my fun loving puppy! I want him to be able to climb Mt Yonah with me again! I want him to go chase those sticks and me fight with him to not come in the house with them. I want him to to run in a wide open field of grass with his big ears flopping and tongue flapping around!

Please consider helping! The funds will be going towards an MRI, a doggie wheelchair, any therapy that he may need and also any medications that he may need.

Thank you!
