Im writing this on behalf of my daughter Christina,
She has been through hell and back with her health the past 2 years, It all really started when she was 7 years old. She was diagnosed with 3 blood disorders that affected her white blood platelets and her red blood cells too, leaving her with a primary auto immune deficiency. She has no immune system whatsoever, She has been on life support three times in the past 4 years. She gets minor colds that quickly turn into pneumonia and is unable to breathe on her own. But over the last two years her health has given her nothing but problems. She was diagnosed with osteomyelitis which is an infection in her bones, they immediately put in a picc line that went directly into the main vein in her heart to pump antibiotics through her body 24 hours a day, she has been on antibiotics for 25 months and its actually started to affect her liver, her right leg is infected all the way from her hip all the way to her toes. She has had three operations on her right foot already removing bones that have become so infected that they need to be removed from the foot, She was in a cast for 8months because she had a gaping hole in the bottom of her foot that they desperately tried to close because you could literally see inside her foot and all the bones were exposed, After 8 months things started to look better and withn 3 weeks the hole had broken open again leaving her with a huge wound and unable to walk on her right foot at all. They decided to operate taking out three bones and sewing the hole closed on the bottom of her foot. She ended up with alot of stitches and staples in the side of her foot, but it wasnt over, she ended up getting alcers on her toes that became so bad that the bones popped through her toes and the bones were left sticking out of her foot, surgeon said the skin was to soft to stitch or staple and had to wait it out to see if the infection around the toes would calm down so they could move forward. But it never got any better, her bones became so brittle that they literally started breaking off, three of her toes are completely shattered and she has learned that she is now facing another surgery this coming Tuesday to amputate three of her toes. She was told from her surgeon that she will never be able to work in this situation because this infection is going to affect her for the rest of her life, removing three toes is just slowing down the process of it affecting the other bones. Christina had a biopsy done last month because something showed up on her bone marrow when they did a bone scan of her entire body, luckily the resultd came back with no bone cancer but something did show up on the biopsy that requires more testing, Christina has lost 90 pounds in 5 months without dieting, Something is wrong and affecting her body and we need to get to the bottom of it. Due to it being her right foot she has been unable to drive and she has weekly appointments at the hosptial when shes not admitted, its a minimum of $40 getting to and from the hospital and She is a single mother, She hasnt applied for Disability because she had always hoped she would be able to eventually go to work in the field she worked so hard to get into, She put herself through school to become a personal support worker, because she loves helping others and has the biggest heart. travelling back and forth to the hospital on next to know income has really taking its toll. The surgeon verified at her last appointment that she wont be able to work and is going to need support around her with all these upcoming operations. Christina has a heart of goldand is always willing to help anyone in need im just asking that people can do the same for her now. Anything will help it all adds up.
