Pet Patrol is an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit cat rescue organization in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. All our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and any health concerns are addressed before they are available for adoption. Please visit our website for more information about our charity. www.petpatrol.ca

Hi, I am baby Rue. Cute as can be, but with a deformed leg. When I was just a wee baby I lived outside with my siblings on a country property. An older man lived in the house and there were a lot of cats living there. He had dogs, too, and he liked them better and we could tell that he fed them well and treated them better than the cats. The dogs were allowed in the house and to roam the yard, but we (the cats) were strictly outdoor, and our only shelter was a cramped shed. We resided in this rustic building that held storage items and lawn care equipment all year round. Not exactly home sweet home! I was told by the older kitties that a woman helped rescue some of the cats, taking them into her home and onto rescue places, but every time she returned, there always seemed to be more cats. No one was spayed or neutered. Eventually, the owner was reported to someone in authority, and a man in uniform arrived. That is when things started to happen. The lady returned and was allowed to gather up our mom, me, and my litter mates. Then we were brought into Pet Patrol care. That is when it was discovered that I had no foot! The older man said that the umbilical cord was wrapped around my food at birth, and my foot fell off, but once I was taken to a kitty doctor, it was discovered that it was a deformity that would not be a healthy form to live with. Over time my walking, running, climbing and jumping will cause my joints to get arthritis much sooner than some cats because things are rubbing in ways they were not designed to. So, after talking it over with a couple of different vets and experts, it has been decided that I would have this useless leg removed. I will be much happier without it, feel better, run better and be more agile overall. But that comes at a cost. It doesn't cost an arm and a leg (pun intended), but it is not for free, and Pet Patrol needs to raise funds first. If you can help me walk the walk and strut my stuff, I will give you kitty kisses for sure.
