3rd surgery needed for tumor stomach repair

About 4 months ago, I went to my OBGYN expecting to have my normal annual checkup. Unfortunately, it was brought to my attention that I had a large, unexpected stomach mass that needed to be removed immediately. Over the next couple of weeks, I underwent countless tests and ultrasounds, resulting in the diagnoses of an unknown, potentially cancerous tumor in my stomach, and I was immediately scheduled for surgery.

While I thought I was going in for one operation, I awoke, expecting to find my tumor was removed and I would be heading home in the matter of a few hours, to instead finding that my tumor was much more complicated than they thought. I actually had to stay for a full week to undergo a second surgery with yet another specialist.

During the second surgery, the doctors discovered the tumor was actually growing from my uterus, and they had to make the decision to completely remove my uterus, left ovary, and fallopian tube - taking away my ability, my husband’s and my choice, to ever have children. While I know this was the best decision for my health, it was an option we never imagined having taken away from us so abruptly.

Even with all this news, I kept a smile on my face and made the absolute best of my situation (Our adorable pup Teddy always helps when he’s by my side). My healing and recovery were going well for the last three months. I was back to teaching yoga, back to work, and living life like normal.

Last week, I collapsed while working and was rushed to the emergency room. I was told of some significant complications from this large tumor extraction and will need to undergo a 3rd surgery for more repairs.

My husband and I have spent more than ten thousand dollars out-of-pocket for my previous week-long hospital visit and multiple surgeries. Now, for this surgery, we are simply out of funds and can’t pay for any further medical expenses. The hospital also refuses to assist with any financial aid.

I would normally not be one to ask for help, but I have no choice but to have this surgery and would greatly appreciate anything that anyone can contribute. Please do not feel the need to donate money if you are not financially able - a simple note of encouragement goes a long way! If you are able to donate, anything, truly anything, as small as it may be, will make a huge impact for me and my family.

All I want is to go back to my healthy, active life!
