Kim's Fairytale in New York

Donation protected
** thank you so much for your generous donations, you have made her dream come true and we are going to New York!! **

As you know, Kim has just celebrated her 5 year double lung transplant anniversary and her 34th birthday. She has had a humongous battle over the last few years and celebrating her recent milestones made it all worth it.

Kim hates asking for help, and didn't know I was doing this, however I'm hoping with your help we might be able to help contribute towards the insurance - think of it as an early Christmas present for her!

Kim hasn't been on holiday since her honeymoon with Stefan back in 2011, and at that time was becoming increasingly poorly just before her wait on the transplant list. Ever since then she has either been too poorly to travel or cannot afford the insurance to go away as it's usually more expensive than the holiday itself.

She's not a massive fan of sun holidays, but whilst she is at the peak of her post transplant health with these new lungs, I really think she deserves a holiday.

I have been looking at a four/five day trip to New York for the two of us, not only will the place be spectacular as somewhere she has always wanted to go & a memory she will never forget, but New York is the home to a Tim Burton themed restaurant!!!

Realistically I would love to take her away next year but as you know Kim can get very ill very quickly, especially with Steve the Stoma, so the sooner we can make those memories the better....

Having checked with her hospital team they are more than happy for her to travel, and have said we should go ahead as soon as possible.

We are saving every last penny to take her away but have just had a quote that the medical insurance will be £1,536 for Kim alone.

I have not set up this GoFund Me page to pay for our holiday (as we are and always were paying for it ourselves) but only to help cover the cost of the insurance. This illness and the costs associated with it are what stops her being able to enjoy the same things as you and I, and it's not fair that she should miss out because of this terminal illness.

Unlike the rest of us she CANNOT go without medical travel insurance. The cost of this insurance will help towards any treatment, admittance or flights home should anything go wrong. And the chance of that happening is very high.

I was wondering if anyone would / could be so kind to help us towards the insurance Kim will so desperately need whilst she's away from home...

This is her last chance for a holiday abroad - 50% of transplant patients are given a life expectancy of 5 years (most only survive the first year) while a third live to 10 years after the surgery, so we are extremely lucky that Kim is still with us. I really hope she is that lucky third so we have more time but you will never know what is around the corner, especially considering how damaged her kidneys are and that she is currently on 4 litres per day of st marks solution just to keep them ticking over.

Thank you for reading and donating, we will never be able to thank you enough.
