Send Jackie & Paul to Montreal!

The abstract that I submitted to the World Parkinson's Congress was accepted (yea!!) and I have been asked to present it as a poster. It's called "'Do I LOOK like I care?' Parkinson's disease and potential effects on relationships." As you may know, this topic has been very important to me for a long time, so I was thrilled to get the opportunity to give it a much broader audience.

However, there is a down side: this honor does not include travel & accommodations.The Congress is being held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada October 1-4, which is an expensive destination. Flights are $560 each, as of 7/25/13, and hotels near the venue are $150 or more. We have already paid the costs of two registrations plus the renewal of Paul's passport, which adds up to $485 and we will be paying for meals. We are not expecting a free ride.

I need Paul to come with me because it's becoming too difficult for me to travel alone, especially on a trip this long. I guess 15+ years of Parkinson's are starting to catch up with me.

I am asking you to make a contribution, if you can, because I consider you to be a supporter of my volunteer work in the Parkinson's disease and environmental health communities. Please know that I will spend this money in service of the Parkinson's community when we are at the Congress. If, by some miracle, more money is raised than needed, it will be applied toward the costs of travel to future Parkinson's-related conferences.
